Both albums are set to drop on August 17th.

Nicki Minaj has announced that she is moving the release date of her upcoming album 'Queen' to 17th August - the same date as her friend and collaborator Ariana Grande's new album, 'Sweetener.'

The rapstress confirmed the news after revealing that she's waiting for a sample from Tracy Chapman to be cleared for one of the album's tracks. Until then, she can't release it.

What Is Nicki Minaj's Net Worth In 2018?

Upon hearing the news, some of Grande's fans took to Twitter to express their dismay that Minaj would be releasing on the same day as the 'God Is A Woman' singer.

Some voiced their concerns that the pair would be battling for the number one spot, while others suggested that the album be pushed back another week to avoid a potential 'block'.

However, Ariana soon addressed the drama in a tweet and shut down anyone pitting their albums against each other.

She wrote, "that’s my f**king sister. she’s clearing a sample. buy and stream queen & sweetener aug 17 bye."

Minaj further backed up Ariana's statement, adding "I love this woman. Can’t wait for the fans to benefit from all the hard work on both ends."

Minaj has already delayed the release once, pushing it back to rescheduled date of 10th August from its original June date.

However, the sample and a feature from Tracy Chapman is yet to be cleared and, after hailing Chapman as "one of the greatest rappers of all time", Minaj personally asked for her permission to use it.
