The singer - who recently topped the charts with her new break-up song 'thank u, next' - debuted her dramatic new haircut on Instagram after departing with her iconic ponytail, following her split with Pete Davidson.

Ariana Grande left fans in a state of shock this week after cutting off her iconic flowing ponytail in favour a new look.

The 25-year-old singer, who split up from her ex-fiancé Pete Davidson last month, debuted her new post-break-up hairdo on Instagram yesterday (15th November).

Fresh from her chart-topping reign on the number one spot with her break-up anthem 'thank u, next', Grande celebrated her achievement with a new look: a short, blunt bob.

Ariana's long locks have long been a staple of her pop princess image, and for fans who are used to seeing her pull her hair back into a sleek ponytail, the drastic change was a lot to take in.

"Listen. @ArianaGrande chopped her hair off. This is not just a new chapter in her life but in all of our lives," wrote on fan on Twitter.

"ariana grande .... with short hair !!???? 2018 is ... insane," said another in response to Ari's drastic new 'do.

Following her shock break-up with SNL star Davidson, Grande - who name-dropped her ex-boyfriends Mac Miller, Pete Davidson, Big Sean and more on her latest song - offered words of advice on getting engaged.

The star responded to an Instagram post about tips and tricks on finding the ideal wedding ring, and encouraged fans that marriage isn't worth it with a simple "don't".
