Rising rapper Megan Thee Stallion sadly shared that her mother had passed away with her fans. The star announced the passing of her mother on an Instagram post along with a heartfelt message.

The artist recently released her new single, and instead of celebrating her single, the tragedy that the dearest person to her has passed away.

The Houston emcee posted a throwback of her with her mother, and wrote the caption “The best mom in the whole world. The strongest woman on the planet. I can’t even put complete sentences together rn RIP mama” on Instagram.

Megan’s mother, Holly Thomas, was a rapper too, who went by the name Holly-Wood.

Megan continued:

“The strongest woman on the planet. I can’t even put complete sentences together rn RIP mama.”

Megan added another post on Instagram explaining that her mother had passed away from “a brain tumor that had been cancerous for a while”.

Megan followed in her mothers footsteps of becoming a rapper, and was a big part of her inspiration. Megan told Essence, that her early passion for music developed while sitting in on many of her mother’s studio sessions. Megan revealed: “I knew I wanted to be a rapper when I was, like, 5,”.

Stallion told Essence, “My mom was a rapper. I would go to the studio with her, and that definitely showed me I can do this. I wanna do this. I remember my first time ever listening to rappers like Pimp C and Biggie, and being like, ‘All this would sound super cool if a girl was saying it,’ so I gotta go do this.”

On the left is my nanny ( my grandma) then in middle is my Bigmamma (my great grandma) on the right is mama holly 😍 then lil megs lol I’ve always had all 3 of these very incredible hardworking women in my life cheering me on and keeping me strong. I was so spoiled 😭 my grandma use to tell me “these niggas can’t buy you nothing you ain’t already got and if you don’t have ima buy it for you “😂 I just lost Bigmamma yesterday but she lived such a full beautiful life and taught so many lessons and touched so many people that we are going to celebrate her home going instead of dwelling in the pain of loosing her 💙 thank you to all of these women for making me who I am today
