Alex Iwobi, the footballer-turned-rapper, has got a new track out with none other than the likes of ODUMODUBLVCK and Ramz, called ‘Hop Out’, but this isn’t the first time the Nigerian pair have released music.
Much to Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie’s surprise, Alex, aka 17, has revealed he and ODUMODUBLVCK have made music before, under an alias Big 17.
The song ‘Juice’ was released back in 2020, prior to him ever releasing any of his own music, choosing to focus on his football career, and is the only song crested by ‘Big 17’.
The song only has 80,000 streams on Spotify, at the time of writing, despite being released over 5 years ago, compared to the already 260,000 stream count of the star’s new track, released this year.
So clearly the pair are a success!
Originally released by his producer friend, David Acekeyz back in 2020, the song ‘Juice’ was initially just the duo, until Alex says he got a call asking if Odumodu could hop on the track as well.
Alex said: “This was before he was ODUMODUBLVCK!”
Speaking to XTRA’s Shayna Marie and Robert Bruce, Alex admitted that the pair hadn’t met at the time but now share a relationship where the Afrobeats star was more than happy to jump on the footballer’s new music.
‘Hop Out’, as well as 17 and Odumodu, also features London-based rapper Ramz.
Speaking on the hot new track, Alex said: “Ramz and I have had a long-term friendship…I’ve known him years.”
Alex continued: “We always said we need to go studio, we need to go studio, so we actually forced him.”
The track is out now and you can watch the full interview with Alex here!
