Dr. Mathew Knowles joined Capital XTRA’s Shayna Marie and Robert Bruce on the Breakfast show where they discussed his career as an iconic music manager and mogul, as well as talking about his scholarship programme at the London College of Contemporary Music (LCCM).
This icon of the industry has managed the likes of Béyonce, Destiny’s Child, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Ray J, as well as many more, so he knows what he is talking about when it comes to good music!
Speaking with the Breakfast hosts, Mathew discussed his love for London and the UK and revealed a potentially controversial opinion of his.
When asked why he chose to set-up his scholarship fund at a British institution as opposed to anywhere else in the world, he said:
“I’ve always loved London, it has incredible talent.”
The music mogul didn’t tell a lie!
He then went even further and gave his opinion on the age-old rivalry between the British and American music industries.
He said: “In my opinion [London] has a better grasp on music than America.”
Béyonce’s former manager suggested that it was ‘well known’ in the industry that London has had an impact on the music industry.
Launching his scholarship scheme in the LCCM was clearly very intentional by Mathew.
The ‘Dr, Mathew Knowles Scholarship’ is aimed at producers, songwriters and artists offering them a life-changing opportunity where all three years of undergraduate study paid for.
