Stormzy Freestyle

Stormzy released the song back in September.

Following his performance during the ring-walk out of Anthony Joshua’s British Heavyweight Title Boxing Match, Stormzy is attempting to get his song ‘Shut Up’ to Christmas Number One.

The Grime MC is hoping to beat competition such as Justin Bieber and UK X Factor winner Louisa Johnson to the top of the charts.

The coveted Christmas Number One spot is usually taken by major hits, X Factor singles or novelty charity singles, however Stormzy is hoping to reverse the trend with a viral social media campaign.

The campaign for #ShutUpForXmasNo1 is gaining momentum, with the studio version of the freestyle climbing back into the Top 50 of the iTunes singles chart and the odds falling rapidly: bookmaker Coral are currently 10/1.

Many people and brands are backing the campaign on Twitter and hoping to repeat the trend that got Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name’ to Christmas Number One in 2009.

Check out some of the best reaction below:
