Nas has unveiled the full, official trailer for his upcoming documentary about the making of his classic 1994 album 'Illmatic'. 

"Twenty years after the release of Nas' groundbreaking debut album Illmatic, NAS: TIME IS ILLMATIC takes us into the heart of his creative process" the trailer's description reads.

"Returning to his childhood home in Queensbridge, Nas shares stories of his upbringing, his influences from the music of his jazz musician father Olu Dara to the burgeoning hip-hop scene in New York City and the obstacles he faced before his major label signing at age 20."

The film is set for a 1st October release date. Watch the full trailer above.

The trailer for Nas' forthcoming documentary 'Time Is Illmatic,' which marks the 20th anniversary of the rappers iconic 1994 debut album 'Illmatic,' has arrived. 

"When I made Illmatic I was trying to make the perfect album" Nas says during the two-and-a-half minute clip which gives an insight into what can be expected from the highly anticipated film.

Other themes appear to be Nas' childhood, his lyrical influences and what life was like in the build up and aftermath of 'Illmatic.'

"I gave you what the streets felt like, what it sounded like, tasted like, smelt like all in that album" Nas says in the trailer. 

The film comes alongside the re-release of Illmatic as 'Illmatic XX,' the double-disc album will see each original track remixed with added previously unreleased freestyles and songs. 

Nas has already premiered 'It Ain't Hard To Tell (The Laidback Remix)' off the new album.
