Mariah Carey has quietly sold the 35-carat diamond engagement ring given to her by her ex-fiancé James Packer, reports claim.

The ring, which was previously reported to be worth around $10 million, was part of a settlement agreed upon by the 'We Belong Together' singer and the Australian businessman following their split in 2017.

According to Page Six, one of Carey's business managers secretly sold the one-of-a-kind sparkler to a Los Angeles jeweller for $2.1 million.

“Mariah has been very vocal recently about her choice to move forward in her life surrounded by positivity,” her publicist told the news outlet. “That requires leaving emotional and material baggage behind, including an old engagement ring from an ex-boyfriend.”

A source added that a confidentiality agreement was signed in order to prevent the jeweller in question from revealing the true identity of the ring’s original owner.

“Mariah Carey’s public relations people are desperately trying to keep the story from the press, and have threatened the jeweler with litigation if he discloses her name.”

Another source rubbished claims that suggested Carey sold the ring because she's low on money, adding: “She owns multiple homes, her entire catalog of music, and she’s had numerous successful tours and residencies.”

The inside source also added that the ring was worth significantly less than $10 million. Carey is yet to respond to the reports.
