Stormzy spoke exclusively to Yinka for Capital XTRA.

Stormzy has revealed why Skepta isn’t on his highly-anticipated debut album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’.

The ‘Big For Your Boots’ MC, whose upcoming tour sold-out in just seven minutes, has six artists on the project – however Skepta is noticeably absent.

Speaking exclusively to Capital XTRA's Yinka, Stormzy broke down his reasoning.

“I’m not sure,” he admitted. “People maybe expected a lot more MCs on there from Wiley, to Skepta, to Kano, to Chip. But I made an album and it just didn’t happen.

“Sometimes it’s not even that deep with music.”

He also added: “Because it’s a close-knit scene, [the features are there]. As in, everyone’s ready to work when called on. I can call Chip now and say 'Yo Chip, I’ve got this tune come through for me' and he’ll come and do it.”

Meanwhile, Stormzy is ready to unleash his long-awaited debut album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ on 24th February.

The Grime MC is also preparing to hit the road during March, April and May on a 2017 ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ tour.
