He was arrested after the moment went viral.
A popular singer has been arrested for performing a dab during a gig in Saudi Arabia.
Abdallah Al Shahani, who is also a TV host and actor, was performing at a music festival in south-west Saudi Arabia when the incident happened.
According to BBC News, the popular Hip-Hop dance move is banned in the Middle East country, as officials believe that it glorifies a culture of narcotic abuse.
The dance move, rumoured to be created by Migos, has grown in popularity over the past couple of years.
Al Shanani was reportedly arrested by authorities after footage of his dab was circulated online.
However it’s not currently known whether the singer was charged by police.
“I apologise to our respected government and to my audience for unintentionally and spontaneously making the dance move at Taif festival. Please accept my apology,” he tweeted Al Shahani.
As expected, fans from the UK and US have expressed their shock.
I can't believe that a singer in Saudia Arabia got arrested for doing the dab. American dances are taboo to them. Wow.
