Love Island is back for summer 2025, with the first episode set to premiere on Monday 9th June, with a revamped villa and new cast, including Connor Phillips, Sophie Lee and Shakira Khan, but whilst there are similarities to past seasons, there are also some quite drastic changes, so here are all the details.
The new cast was debuted on 3rd June, with one of the contestants on the line-up dropped before the show could even begin.

The show is still set in the sunny landscape of Mallorca, but there are some juicy new additions sure to keep viewers even more engaged this year.
The producers are going for even more drama, more gossip, and most importantly more love this year!
So let’s take a look at all of the newest additions to Love Island.
Beanbags are banished!

Ekin-Su attacks Davide with a beanbag
The iconic beanbags are no more, with producers opting for a more ‘upmarket’ look with something called ‘boucle’ seats.
The famous beanbag chairs have facilitated a lot of chats for the Islanders over the years, even becoming part of the storyline in the 2022 season, where ‘the curse of the yellow beanbag’ took effect.
The Creative Director of the show, Mike Spencer, has said that the 2025 version of the show has taken inspiration from ‘The Beverly Hills Hotel’.
He said: “The whole place, we wanted it to feel more upmarket. Hopefully it still feels like love island, but a more premium version.”
Contestants will be shown whilst eating for first time ever
For the first time, since the shows debut in 2015, the viewers will gain exclusive access into the lunch and dinner conversations that were never previously been aired.
Famously, made apparent through plot-holes and strange reactions, viewers have always missed out on conversations and drama that has unfolded during the Islanders mealtimes.
In efforts to avoid the ‘loose threads’ in storylines, and to promote healthy eating habits, Love Island is showing the contestants dining with a brand-new huge dining table.
Hideaway steamy scenes are being aired
Returning again, since it’s removal in 2019, are the steamy happenings of the Hideaway!
A massive change to the formatting of Love Island was when viewers were only shown very minimal implications of what Islanders were getting up to under the ‘private’ covers of the Hideaway Suite.
The director of the show said: “We need to keep the show fresh and exciting. After 10 years, the stats speak for themselves. The show will continue to thrive.”
The addition of these scenes will be sure to fit this seasons’ remit for ‘more drama, more gossip and more love’.
Hideaway is open 24 hours
Next up, the Hideaway is not just being shown like never-before, but it is also getting a rule revamp!
Since the beginning of Love Island, the Hideaway has acted as a private room, strictly for official couples of the Island to get a private night alone in each other’s company, often resulting in intimate relations.
But this year, for the 2025 series, bosses have announced that the Hideaway will be open for 24hrs, Islanders no longer needing an invitation.
Perhaps the most scandalous change of them all, is that non-couples are allowed to go in with whoever they would like, whether that be for a private conversation away from the peering eyes of the villa, or more naughty relations.
This change is for sure going to turn up the heat this season, creating more drama perhaps than viewers will be able to handle!
Maya Jama is renting ALL of her outfits this year

Maya Jama makes show-stopping Love Island entrance
In a bid for a more sustainable Love Island, Maya Jama revealed that all of her iconic outfits that she will strut into the villa with this year, will all be rented.
This isn’t an unfamiliar concept for the brand, as since 2022 the show has been sponsored by second-hand retailer eBay.
Since the sponsorship, which has contestants sharing the same outfits as each other, eBay has seen a boost of over 400% for the search term ‘pre-loved fashion’ on the site from just the last season alone.
Maya is a stunner no matter what she wears, but now she is an environmentally conscious icon as well!
Shortened walls of terrace
The iconic Love Island terrace was also not spared in the brand-new villa makeover, with the once high walls being torn down in a bid to avoid secret meetings.
The terrace has long been a cornerstone for drama in the reality show, famously with Ekin-Su crawling on her hands and knees to have a secret kiss away from the judgement of Islanders.
But the bosses said no more! To intentionally stir the pot up even more, producers don’t want there to be any level of secrecy, creating even more drama.
No repeat Islanders set to make a return
And finally, lots of viewers will be glad to hear there will be no return of ex-Islanders in the brand-new series!
In the last few years of Love Island, it has become a common occurrence for recognisable faces to make a return, famously with bombshell, Adam Collard, making his return in 2022.

Whilst initially exciting, it quickly became predictable and highlighted that they surely couldn’t have been looking for love a second time.
Fans of the show have often criticised the ‘sameness’ of it, so they will be pleased to know that it is only fresh faces this year!
So, there has certainly been a lot of changes to the show this year for its 12th Series.
Fans will be excited to know that after ten-years, producers are still keen to shake things up a bit.
The show debuts Monday 9th June at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX!
