Her performance was epic.
Janelle Monae was among the many famous faces who delivered incredible tributes to Prince at this year’s BET Awards.
Introduced as “the definition of electric” by BET host Tracee Ellis Ross, the ‘Tightrope’ singer hit the stage and delivered one of the biggest performances of the night.
Monae, who described Prince as a mentor, performed a medley of hits including ‘Delirious’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Pop Life’, and ‘I Would Die 4 U’.
The energetic performance included a number of outfit changes – one being a reference to Prince’s iconic “assless chaps” worn by him during the 1991 MTV VMAs.
Other stars to deliver Prince tributes on the night included Erykah Badu, Bilal, The Roots, Stevie Wonder, Tori Kelly, and Jennifer Hudson.
Meanwhile, Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar also stole the show with an epic performance of ‘Freedom’, while actor Jesse Williams gave an impassioned speech about black rights in the US.
