Diogo Jota’s death in a horror car crash has shaken fans everywhere, and tributes and messages of love have been pouring in from all over the world, including from Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James.

Diogo Jota, 28, sadly died on the 3rd of July, in a shock car crash in the north of Spain, just 11 days after his wedding to Rute Cardoso.

He played as a striker for Liverpool FC and was a crucial part in the team’s Premier League win, as well as helping to secure the Portuguese national team’s UEFA Nations League win just a few weeks ago.

As the world is shaken up by the tragic news, messages of love and support have been sent in from all over the world by celebrities and fans.

Diogo died alongside his brother André Silva,25, as the Lamborghini’s tire blew sending the car off in a fireball.Fellow Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah posted to his Twitter in complete disbelief at the loss.

He said: “I am truly lost for words. Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going back to Liverpool after the break. Teammates come and go but not like this. It’s going to be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo won’t be there when we go back.”

Ex-captain of Liverpool FC, Jordan Henderson, was seen laying flowers at the memorial displayed outside the Anfield arena on the 4th of July.

He had played alongside Jota for three years, losing a teammate and a friend, in a very emotional moment.

Other Liverpool FC players have also sent out their condolences, including ex-manager Jürgen Klopp, captain, Virgil van Dijk, and Roberto Firmino.

Portuguese football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo also shared his heartbreaking tribute to his fellow national team player.

Ronaldo said: “It doesn't make sense. Just now we were together in the National Team, just now you had gotten married. To your family, your wife, and your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them. Rest in Peace, Diogo and André. We will all miss you.”

Even the Royal Family has expressed their condolences, with Prince William saying that he was ‘deeply saddened’.

Sportspeople from across the industry and world have shared their emotions as well, including LeBron James, who is part-owner of the Liverpool club, and tennis players Rafael Nadal and Francisco Cabral.

The women’s Euros debuted the same evening of the striker’s death, 3rd July, with Portugal’s national team playing. The match observed a one-minute silence in his honour, as well as the players wearing black armbands.

Jota was a very loved player, and Liverpool fans are known to love their players immensely, with their phrase ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ feeling more poignant than ever.

He has been described as a man with ‘many friends,’ and there are a lot of people impacted by this news.
