Drake and his OVO team are massive fans of Section Boyz. They regularly play music from The Section on their OVO Sound Radio Show and Drizzy offers them lots of support on social media - from posting images of their album, to posting their lyrics.
Section Boyz are a Hip Hop collective based in Croydon, South London. Due to their location, they're also closely affiliated with a number of fellow South London artists including Stormzy and Krept and Konan.
There are currently six members in Section Boyz - Swift, Deeppee, Knine, Inch, Sleeks and Littlez. There were previously seven members however Reeko Squeeze left due to "creative differences".
Section Boyz were handed their first ever MOBO Award for 'Best Newcomer' in November 2015. They beat strong competition from artists such as Bugzy Malone, Bonkas, Nick Brewer, George The Poet, and more. The MOBO's commended the group for influencing UK music with their signature trap sound and earning the attention of Drake.
After admitting that she was listening to Section Boyz in her free time, Rita Ora confirmed that the Hip Hop collective will be featuring on her new album on a song called 'We Don't Ramp'. They also linked up at the MOBOs for an energetic performance of 'Trappin' Ain't Dead'.
Although Section Boyz have been releasing music together for a long time, including 2014's standout 'SectionOnly' mixtape, things started picking up after they released a song called 'Lock Arrf'. It was heavily championed among the UK underground Hip Hop scene. It joined a succession of hits including 'Trappin' Ain't Dead' and 'Who Needs A Hook?'.
Section Boyz have been compared to US rap group Migos - who gained fame after Drake remixed their 2013 track 'Versace'. As noted by Complex, both groups have been co-signed by Drizzy, both play an important part in their respective underground Hip-Hop scenes and both experiment with new Rap/Grime flows in their songs.
After lots of media social support from the artists such as Drake, Skepta and Stormzy, Section Boyz released their debut album 'Don't Panic' on 18th September 2015. Despite dropping the project independently, the boys still earned a spot on the UK Top 40 album chart.
