The Artists That Need To Release New Albums Before 2014 Ends
Whether it's a quick follow-up or a long overdue album (yes Dr Dre, we're looking at you), these albums need to come out this year.
-
1. Kano
Last album: 'Method Of The Madness' (2010). It's been four years since Kano dropped his last studio album, but the British rapper is now back working on new music. We reckon 2014 is the year for him to drop the long-awaited follow-up!
-
2. Frank Ocean
Last album: 'Channel Orange' (2012). OK, so it's only been two years, but the world is waiting for Frank Ocean's new album. Fortunuately, 2014 looks like the year, with the rapper confirming as early as last February that he had started working on the follow-up to his seminal release.
-
3. Dr Dre
Last album: '2001' (1999). Put simply, we've been waiting for more than a decade for 'Detox', Dre's long-awaited/much-delayed/will-it-ever-come album, so we've crossed our fingers that this year is THE year.
-
4. Kendrick Lamar
Last album: 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City' (2012). Kendrick set the world alight with his verse on Big Sean's 'Control' in 2013, so the benchmark for his follow-up to 'Good Kid…' is set very high. After further high profile collaborations with Eminem in 2013, this year is the year that K. Dot needs to drop his own studio record.
-
5. Julio Bashmore
Last album: N/A. Julio Bashmore's been busy focussing on standalone tracks in recent months, but expectation is now sky high for a full album. 2014 needs to make this happen.

-
6. Martin Garrix
Last album: N/A. At only 17, the expectation for Martin Garrix's debut album is already sky high. He told Capital XTRA recently that he couldn't wait to work on it, so 2014 could be the year the DJ-producer drops the record. Picture: Facebook

7. Macklemore
Last album: 'The Heist' (2012). After the success of their last album, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have been keen to work on the follow-up. It's currently pencilled in for release within the "next three years", but we think it needs to come sooner.
-
8. David Guetta
Last album: 'Nothing But The Beat' (2011). Three years ago, David Guetta was the biggest DJ in the world when he dropped 'Nothing But The Beat', which featured a series of high profile collaborations with everyone from Kelly Rowland to Snoop Dogg. Recently, Guetta's been focussing on producing songs, rather than fronting them - so the chances for a new album from the French DJ in 2014 are high.
-
9. DJ Fresh
Last album: 'Nextlevelism' (2012). Capital XTRa's very own DJ Fresh drops new single 'Dibby Dibby Sound' featuring Ms. Dynamite in early 2014 and an album looks set to follow.
-
10. Nicki Minaj
Last album: 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded'. Nicki diversified into various non-music projects in 2013, but don't go thinking she's forgotten about music. She's promised that her next album will be "next level" and recently dropped the viral song 'Boss Ass B***h'

11. Hardwell
Last album: N/A. The world's number one DJ and Capital XTRA presenter has still never released a full studio album, but the chances are 2014 will be the year. He recently dropped the collaboration 'Dare You' with Matthew Koma, cementing the long-term possibility that Hardwell will follow in the footsteps of fellow Dutch DJ legend Tiesto.
-
12. Craig David
Last album: 'Signed Sealed Delivered' (2010). Capital XTRA's very own presenter is coming back to music in a big way in 2014 with the album currently entitled 'Following My Intuition'. Get ready!
-
13. Alesso
Last album: N/A. Alesso, along with his fellow former Swedish House Mafia co-star Sebastian Ingrosso, basically soundtracked music in 2013. It looks like the DJ, who's still only 22, will capitalise on his success with a studio album this year. It's going to be epic. Picture: Instagram
-
14. Madeon
Last album: N/A. He's still yet to release a studio album, but Madeon's reputation as a producer exploded in 2013 after producing tracks on Lady Gaga's 'ARTPOP', so don't be surprised to see an album from the French star in 2014.
-
15. Skrillex
Last album: 'The Bangarang EP' (2011). Firstly, how has it already been three years since 'The Bangarang EP'? Secondly, don't worry, it looks like 2014 will be the follow-up year, with the DJ and producer confirming details of the record in a recent interview. Picture: Danny North

-
16. Iggy Azalea
Last album: 'Glory' (2012). 2014 will see Iggy release the much-delayed 'The New Classic'. We can't wait.
-
17. Lethal Bizzle
Last album: 'Go Hard' (2009). 2014 looks set to be the year Lethal Bizzle drops his much-anticipated new album. He's on tour this year and currently working on the project simultaneously.
-
18. Fatboy Slim
Last album: 'Here Lies Love' (2010). As far as DJs and producers go, they don't come much more decorated than Fatboy Slim. The Brighton star proved his status again in 2013 with 'Eat Sleep Rave Repeat' and so the demand is back for another new album. Will 2014 be the year?
