He will go head to head with Sam Smith and Lady Gaga.
The nominees for the 2016 Academy Awards have been revealed, with The Weeknd earning a nod in the Best Original Song category for his Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack song 'Earned It.'
The 'Beauty Behind The Madness' single will go head to head with Sam Smith's 'Spectre' track 'Writing's On The Wall' and Lady Gaga's 'The Hunting Ground' song 'Til It Happens To You'.
Last year John Legend and Common picked up the award for their Selma soundtrack song 'Glory,' with Common giving an emotional acceptance speech.
Box office hit 'Straight Outta Compton' was nominated for one award, 'Best Original Screenplay.'
The award's ceremony will take place on 28th February 2016 in California.
