And gave out life advice to all the teenagers there.

Last weekend one 13-year-old boy had the best Bar Mitzvah ever as special guest Nicki Minaj performed at the celebration. 

The 'Anaconda' rapper walked the event's red carpet with the lucky teenager, Matt, from New York and all of his friends. 

Later in the evening Nicki took to the stage to perform hit single 'Super Bass' and Drake-assisted track 'Only,' before giving a speech that heard her tell the kids to "stay in school" and "don't be a bum."

After asking kids in the audience how old they were, Nicki turned to the Bar Mitzvah boy to ask his age and was shocked when he responded; "old enough."

Nicki also had a special message for the young girls who were filming her on their mobile phone in the audience, advising them to never rely on a man. 

"Ladies, never let a man have to take care of you. Do you understand me?" Nicki siad. "Be your own woman."

This summer Nicki Minaj will return to the UK to headline the New Look Wireless Festival at London's Finsbury Park alongside David Guetta, Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
