Kendrick Lamar Leads MTV VMA 2017 Nominations

The nominations for MTV's Video Music Awards 2017 have been announced, with Kendrick Lamar leading the way with eight nods.
The Compton rapper has been acknowledged for his 'HUMBLE.' video in categories including video of the year, artist of the year and best hip-hop video of the year.
The news comes after Lamar's 2017 album 'DAMN.' achieved double platinum certification this week.
Meanwhile, The Weeknd and Katy Perry follow behind Lamar with five nominations each.
This year, two new awards are being introduced to the ceremony.
Instead of gendered categories, such as best female video and best male video, the categories are now combined for the all-encompassing 'Artist of the Year' award.
Secondly, an award for ‘Best Fight Against the System’ has been introduced which recognises videos which "inspire viewers to stand up and fight injustice."
