Kanye West has performed for the first time in public since his hospitalisation last year.

The Hip-Hop hitmaker joined former protégé Kid Cudi onstage at his concert in Chicago for a surprise homecoming performance on Saturday night.

The crowd roared in both disbelief and delight as the 'Day 'N' Nite' rapper welcomed Ye to the stage, marking his first onstage appeareance since the cancelation of his tour last year.

Kanye and Cudi performed a high energy rendition of "Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1", taken from the former's 2016  album, 'Life Of Pablo'.

As they launched into the track, West raised his microphone to his hometown crowd and watched as they recited the entire first verse back to him.

The Chicago native appear to have reconciled following their spat last year, which occurred just before Cudi entered a rehab facility.

Kanye last appeared live on stage in November last year during his infamous Sacramento show - the rapper embarked on an epic rant which saw him target Jay Z and Beyonce.

Meanwhile, the rapper is expecting his third child with wife, Kim Kardashian, via a surrogate.
