Meek is now behind bars.
JAY-Z addressed Meek Mill’s prison sentence on stage last night after the Philadelphia rapper officially began his time behind bars.
The ‘444’ rapper, who released a statement via Facebook earlier this week, emphasised his thoughts during the Houston, Texas leg of his current US tour.
The rapper stopped mid-performance to address the situation. “Meek Mill caught a charge when he was like 19. He’s 30 now and he’s been on probation 11 years.
“F*cking 11 years. Probation. 11 years. Judge just violated and now he’s got to do 2 to 4 years because he got arrested for being on a bike popping a f*cking wheelie. Still n*gga.”
Meek was processed by Pennsylvania’s Department Of Corrections after his mug shot was taken.
Law enforcement officials are currently keeping the prison name secret for security purposes, according to TMZ.
Meek Mill’s team is expected to appeal the ruling after one of his lawyers, Joe Tacopina, accused the case’s judge of “inappropriate acts”.
He claims that she requested Meek Mill remix Boyz II Men’s ‘On Bended Knee’, with a personal shout out to her, as well as leave Roc Nation and sign to her friend.
Meek Mill previously violated his probation in 2014 and was sentenced to 3-6 months in prison.
While in 2015, he violated parole due to unapproved travel and urine test failure. He was then sentenced to three months house arrest.
