Jay Z appeared as the musical guest on the season opener of Saturday Night Live this weekend.

Performing alongside Damian Marley, the '4:44' star took to the stage wearing a No. 7 jersey in honor of Colin Kaepernick.

The politically-charged move was in reference to Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the US National Anthem before a game in 2016, which inspired worldwide protest and debate.

Jay performed 'Bam' with Marley, the Jamaican dancehall-influenced track taken from the rapper's recently released album.

As Marley belted out the intro, Hov turned around to display the name "COLIN K" emblazoned across the top of his jersey.

Following the statement-making performance, the rapper later returned to the stage to perform the album's title track, '4:44'.

The appearance comes after recent reports claimed that Jay turned down the NFL's offer to perform at next year's Super Bowl LI halftime show.

Meanwhile, Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling presented this week's show, which is now going into its 43rd season.
