JAY-Z Breaks More Records With ‘4:44’

His run of number one albums is crazy!
Despite being a Tidal exclusive release for its first week the album still managed to score number one on the American Billboard Top 100 chart with 262,000 unit sold.
The album was released a week prior to its Billboard entry, but because Tidal didn’t report the download numbers it didn’t chart. Since being released from its Tidal exclusivity though it’s stormed up the charts.
This gave Hov his 14th number one album, which is the most achieved by a solo artist. Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand are tied in a distant second place on 11 each (Bruce and Barbara, you need more people!)
In spite of this strong showing it was only the third biggest selling hip-hop album of the year, with Kendrick’s 'DAMN.' and Drake’s ‘More Life’ both shifting more copies (603,000 and 505,000 respectively).
Along with confessions about his fidelity Jigga also fired some shots on the album. The most high profile target was his one time protege Kanye, who was signed to JAY-Z’s music streaming service Tidal.
However, Kanye can still claim he’s better than Jay in one respect. He still holds the record for the most albums to debut at number one with seven!
Motivation for Hov’s next release maybe.
