Barack Obama - Jay Z Songwriters Hall of Fame Speech

What a moment!

Barack Obama welcomed Jay Z as the first ever Hip-Hop artist to be inducted into the songwriters Hall Of Fame.

The former US president delivered a touching two-minute speech for the rapper-turned-entrepreneur at the induction ceremony on Thursday.

"I'd like to think Mr. Carter and I understand each other. Nobody who met us as younger men would have expected us to be where we are today," said Obama.

“And so we try to prop open those doors of opportunities, so that it's a little easier for those who come up behind us to succeed as well."

Obama also joked about how they are both “fools for our daughters” and how they have “wives that are significantly more popular than we are.”

In response to the landmark moment, Jay Z took to Twitter to list all of the artists that are currently keeping him inspired.
