The singer has apologised.

Erykah Badu has apologised to Iggy Azalea for taking shots at the rapper on stage at the recent Soul Train Awards.

The singer had pretended to speak to Iggy on the phone and told her that what she’s doing “is definitely not rap”.

She initially attempted to shut down the situation with a hilarious tweet.

However Badu later followed up with an equally hilarious video apology in a Twitter Q&A with her fans.

“I want to do this for my daughters. I want to apologise to Iggy Azalea because she’s one of their favourite artists. And they listen to her all the time. And its for them,” she said.

“When I really think about it… I mean, if y’all love her so much, why don’t you go be with her then?”

Iggy Azalea has fired back at Erykah Badu for trying to “discredit my 2014 accomplishments”, after the singer appeared to diss her at the Soul Train Awards.

The Australian rapper took to Twitter on Tuesday after a long hiatus, to address a number of issues including the apparent diss.

“I know it’s been a while,” she began. “We are days from 2016 but I came online today and saw its still cool to try and discredit my 2014 accomplishments.”

She also provided fans with an update on her new music and some of her plans for the rest of the year.

Whilst hosting the 2015 Soul Train Awards earlier this week Erykah Badu took the opportunity to throw some serious shade Iggy Azalea's way.

The 44-year-old singer-songwriter joked that no rappers  were allowed at the Soul and R&B music awards, saying; "Tonight we are only honoring soul and R&B music. There will be no Hip Hop awards given out. Only three tattoos per arm are permitted. There will be no red cups and no gold chains…."

As her phone rang, Erykah paused to answer and that's when the shade descended on Iggy.

"Is that my phone? Hang on one second. I’m sorry, y’all…." Erykah said. "Ah, yes. Who is this? Iggy Azalea! Oh, hey. No, you can come because what you’re doing is DEFINITELY not rap. I'ma send an Uber for you. K.”
