Here are some of the biggest EDM tunes of 2014, proving that electronic dance music is the sound that just keeps on giving.
EDM has been taking control of big room dance floors from Miami to Ibiza all year long and we just can't get enough of it.
If you've tuned into Capital XTRA's Clubbers Guide with Ministry of Sound you won't be a stranger to some of this year's biggest electronic dance music anthems. But just in case you've missed them - or want to relive them all over again - here are some of what we think were the biggest EDM songs of 2014.
Ummet Ozcan's remix of Tiesto's 2014 track, 'Wasted' had everyone fist pumping this summer. A real feel good EDM anthem with lots of punch.
OneRupublic frontman, Ryan Tedder is clearly a fan of the electronic sound - check out his collaboration with Zedd on 'Lost At Sea' - but this time Alesso's at the wheel. 'If I Lose Myself' nailed everything that it needed to with euphoric synthlines, a building baseline, a peak and of course some powerful Tedder vocals, making it the perfect big room track.
If 'Take Me Home' didn't throw you into an EDM mosh pit then nothing will.
A best of EDM would be incomplete without Calvin Harris' track 'Summer' taking a firm spot on the leaderboard. With this track, there's no messing about as the solid drop lands just seconds in and powers through until the vocals kick back in along that much loved piano and punchy melodic bass.
New_ID's remix of Junior Jacks's 'Thrill Me' is a combination of percussion, tension, those all important building sirens and plenty of thrills. A MASSIVE tune that has a whole lot of bass but is also so much more.
There's a powerful force behind this one - Martin Garrix, DVBBS and Sander Van Doorn - so no wonder it's been a BIG hit in 2014. Perfect for the big room or just for fist pumping in your car.
Tove Lo's second (and breakthrough) single 'Habits' gets a well deserved remix here by The Chainsmokers to give it a glorious EDM edge. Nice!
No one expected this to be quite as big as it was...
Tove Lo was a popular girl this year... Sweet, sweet vocals and even sweeter beats captured perfectly here in Alesso's 'Heroes'.
Unsurprisingly, here's another one from Tiesto. If you're a true EDM fan we're pretty sure you've stomped your way through this beast.
Spinnin' Records' Martin Garrix has been a busy boy and it's paid off. The young dutch DJ/producer tears up the speakers with this go hard or go home EDM masterpiece.
Trained in the art of keeping their fans waiting for a release, Nero pleased the masses when 'Satisfy' dropped earlier this year. The electronic group's debut album 'Welcoming Reality' landed in 2011 and is still regarded as one of the greats - we can see why.
We all love Knife Party and their 2014 track 'Begin Again' just reaffirms why. The second single from their debut album 'Abandon Ship, has us hooked from the start with sold vocals from Pendulum lad, Rob Swire and some crazy synth melodies.
Matthew Koma joins Showtek and Justin Prime to recreate the original mix of their track 'Cannonball', giving us an even bigger track with plenty of big room peaks.
It's been a massive year for both Foxes and Zedd so this team-up was a welcomed one.
A nice techy intro kicks off Hardwell's remix of this Coldplay banger. A clever remix that compliments both Chris Martin's vocals and the Dutch producer's big room house sound.
The legend that is Armin Van Buuren treated us with the aptly named 'Ping Pong' earlier this year. Bringing the game to life with a variety of bouncing sounds that escalated into an electronic frenzy - you can't help but love it.
Another big year for Calvin Harris and another big tune. But this time made a little fiercer with the help of R3hab.
Wait for that drop…
The strong force of former Swedish House Mafia members Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso come together for the first single from their upcoming 2015 debut album 'Something New', which they premiered on the new Beats by Dre advert. Cool lads.
