The original video was allegedly a response to a 2017 incident which saw XXXTentacion pretend to hang himself on Instagram, which sparked controversy online following concern about his influence on young fans.

On Monday, Broward County Sheriff's Department officials confirmed that Onfrey had passed away after being fatally shot. He was 20 years old.

"The adult male that was taken to the hospital has been pronounced dead," they wrote, before confirming his identity.

Following Onfrey's death, many Hip-Hop stars took to social media to acknowledge his loss and his legacy, including fellow rising rappers Tekashi 6ix9ine and Lil Tay.
