The Weeknd - Chapter III

Is The Weeknd headed in a darker new direction?

The Weeknd has dropped a dark trailer for his new album.

The short clip features Abel Tesfaye walking through the streets of his hometown talking about his inspirations.

"I'm so use to hardly ever sleeping and roaming the streets of downtown Toronto… Little did I know it would help create this character in my songs that I left behind."

The sinister black and white second half of the trailer also suggests that Tesfaye's new material might be darker in tone. 'The Hills', which dropped earlier this year, featured a foreboding mansion in its accompanying music video.

Recent leaks of unreleased songs point to superproducer Max Martin taking the helm on The Weeknd's second album. The release date is yet to be announced.
