The girls opened up about the controversial incident.
Fifth Harmony have revealed the truth behind their controversial MTV VMAs performance over the weekend.
The girl band made headlines after some fans thought they deliberately threw shade at former member Camila Cabello.
Before the start of their performance, five singers appeared to stand in the shadows, before one member was brutally dragged from the stage.
However speaking during their post-VMAs interview with Good Morning America, the girls said the performance was about their future instead of their past.
“We get asked all the time if we’re getting a fifth member,” said Ally Brooke.
“We wanted to show the world in an artistic way that, hey, the four of us are Fifth Harmony.”
She continued: ““We’re stronger and better than we’ve ever been — and honestly it was such a monumental moment for us. We were at the VMAs! We had rain! We had the splits! We had a mic drop!”
Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar kicked off the awards with a fiery medley, which included ‘DNA’ and ‘HUMBLE’.
