Changes 2 Pac
From his real name to what he keeps stocked up on in his dressing room, here is everything you need to know about Trey Songz.
Trey got his big break when the hot producer discovered him whilst performing in a talent show back in 2000. Taylor has produced records for Boys II Men, Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston to name a few. The hook up lead to Trey getting a recording contract with Atlantic Records.
Whilst recording his debut album Gotta Make It in 2004, Trey released multiple mixtapes as Prince Of Virginia. The most notorious song off one of the mixtapes was Open The Closet' a response to R Kelly's Trapped In The Closet – the single helped get Trey on the map.
It's as simple as it sounds, producers use to label his demos 'Trey's Songs.'
After finding only moderate success with his first two albums, Trey Songz had a bigger plan for the third: "Ready is a more commercial album. It's more an album that was strategically done for trying to attain a spot for myself. I didn't have my place in the game before Ready… It was strategic from the single placement to the songs I sang. I probably wouldn't record some of those songs had I not needed relevant radio play."
And that's just guest appearances – not even the songs he lead or featured on. Some artist he worked with include; 2Pac, Dr Dre, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Nelly, T.I and Busta Rhymes.
In 2010 Trey Songz founded the foundation Angels With Heart. He uses it to call upon fans, who he refers to as 'Trey's Angels,' to give back random acts of kindness by donating their times and efforts to support local communities.
Just some include Replacement Girl, Missing You and Give Ya – Trey once said of Drake in an interview: "For two young men going through the same thing in life right now as far as woman, as far money and endorsements, shows, records popularity is definitely cool to have somebody to talk to".
He's been nominated for three between 2008 and 2013, but his awards cupboard is looking pretty bare for a singer so successful and so well respected in the industry.
The first was in 2010 in a film called 'Preacher's Kid,' in the second he appeared alongside Christina Milian and Paula Patton in the 103 film 'Baggage Claim,' and that same year he played Ryan in 'Texas Chainsaw 3D.' Picture: Instagram

At age 17 he dropped out of school early and began training to be a barber. The singer recalled friends lining up at his house before prom to get their hair done, lucky for us the profession didn't work out. Picture: Instagram
Skittles and starburst, apparently. The singer says he also has a lot of candles and a humidifier for his voice. Picture: Instagram
