Sean Paul on Dancehall!

Sean Paul isn't impressed with Drizzy's use of the genre.

The ‘No Lie’ singer claims Drizzy isn’t giving the genre enough credit for his recent success.

“That’s Dancehall you’re doing, so please say ‘This is my Dancehall-oriented single or ‘this is my Dancehall song’ because that helps,” he told Yinka on Capital XTRA.

“Dancehall doesn’t have a place in Grammys still. We’re under Reggae and it’s a bit weird.”

Drake’s latest projects ‘Views’ and ‘More Life’ have both feature a number of Dancehall-inspired songs including ‘Controlla’, ‘One Dance’ and ‘Blem’.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Sean Paul has voiced his frustrations with artists using the Dancehall sound.

Back in 2016, the Reggae artist told The Guardian that it was a “sore point” to see artists like Justin Bieber and Drake profit from Dancehall-inspired songs without paying homage to where they came from.
