Lil Wayne sparked rumours that he is about to retire from rap music after posting some very cryptic messages on social media.

The legendary rapper, who has been responsible for the careers of Drake, Nicki Minaj and more, appeared to express his desire to quit music over the weekend.

“I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I'm dun,” he said on Twitter.

“Ain't lookin for sympathy, just serenity.”

Its not currently clear what has sparked Lil Wayne’s sudden outburst. However the rapper has been caught up in a long-running $51m legal battle with his label Cash Money.

Drake, who is currently signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money label, has responded to the situation on Instagram.

“We are fighting until you get yours,” he said. “Freedom to drop music and peace of mind.”
